An Incentive to Become a Member
October 1, 2011: "Mozart and Salieri” Keeping with the tradition of Russian aristocracy to present operas at estate theaters for a group of close friends, we present to our members – for the first time in Musical Viva’s history – the staged and costumed opera, Mozart and Salieri, by Rimski-Korsakov. The hour-long opera will be sung in Russian, with English surtitles.
December 10, 2011: “Anya’s Musical Birthday Bash” Join us as we celebrate our Artistic Director, Anya Grokhovski’s BIG birthday with a group of her musical friends from all over the world! Among her guests: pianists from Mexico, Georgia, Germany and long-time friend and violinist, Emanuel Borok, former concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony. The program is a surprise… Come celebrate!
January 21, 2012: "Beethoven and Friends" In the spirit of the Beethoven Festival, led by the San Antonio Symphony, we present Beethoven favorites for piano, violin and cello. The Russian power trio is: Valery Grokhovski, piano, Mark Cheikhet, violin and Velitchka Yotcheva, cello. After performing this program all over Russia and Europe, this dynamic ensemble will once again astound our members with their impeccable musicianship.
March 24, 2012: “Fairy tales from Around the World” For the first time in our history, we will feature folk soloists from different traditions in the house concert setting. Masters of folk music from different Indian and Middle Eastern traditions will present a unique program with a classical twist.
May 19, 2012: “Shall We Dance?” The Grand Finale of the 14th season will feature world-famous folkloric ensemble, Gibaro de Puerto Rico, known for their dynamic, fiery performances. They will take our members on a Caribbean journey through history and tradition, presenting dances from six major islands, in festive costumes, with live combo accompaniment.
Musical Evenings at San Fernando Cathedral — history, spirit, & music meet

As part of the City-wide Beethoven Festival we present the complete Beethoven sonatas for violin and piano:January 15, Sonatas 7 and 8 performed by the assistant concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony, Gary Levinson, and Baya Kakouberi.
January 29, Sonatas 1, 2, and 3 performed by the former concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony, Emanuel Borok, and pianist Tatyana Gerasimova
February 5, Sonatas 4, 5, and 6 performed by violinist Mark Cheikhet, and pianist Elena Portnaya.
April 1, “Fantasia for Organ” Svetlana Berejnaya will present a beautiful program of romantic music on the Cathedral’s resonant pipe organ.
